Just in case you haven’t been keeping up with the petty light-skin-boy-band-beef between Chris Brown and Drake these past few years, here’s a quick recap: The two had a few squabbles in the past over bad gal Rihanna; mostly on Twitter, but one in-person altercation that resulted in blows and bottle-tossing at a NYC night club in 2012. Fast forward to 2014, and the two seemed to have buried the hatchet after a photo surfaced online of Chris and Drizzy in the studio together, and they even appeared side-by-side joking in a skit at the 2014 ESPY’s.
But then, during one of Chris and Karrueche Tran‘s messy social media breakups back in December (2013), C.B. dropped a bomb on us all when he unveiled that the Toronto rapper had been seeing his on-off boo back when he was on lockdown. (Drake just be stealing allll his girls!)
So at that point, no one was clear on where the relationship between Chris and Drake really stood. But all that changed during Breezy’s recent appearance on Power 105.1’s the Breakfast Club. When Drizzy’s name popped up, this is what Brown had to say:
“He don’t make me no money by talking about him. Now if I get a check, ding ding.” But when asked about Kanye West‘s “If you leave Mickey you gon’ end up with a Goofy” line, in reference to Karrueche ditching Chris, that’s when the singer told us how he really feels. Sorta.
“I feel what [Kanye] meant by it, and I’m not just saying it as an arrogant statement. In any situation, when you look at yourself in a certain light – cocky or not – there’s nowhere else to go [after me]. Even with [Rihanna], who else you gonna go to? […] Who else in this game she gonna go to? Some corny singing-rapper?” (Stop! Who delivers a better sensitive sing-rap than Aubrey? Exactly!)
And that’s how we knew the gloves were still on.
Well, Drake must’ve heard about the sneak attack because it wasn’t long before he sucka-punched right back. During a concert in Auckland, New Zealand Sunday night (Feb. 22), he performed his song “Energy” from If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. Changing the words, he fired, “I got R&B n—as that I gotta act like I like,” instead of spittin’ the original lyrics, “rap n—as,” or so says his fan site Word On Road.
Smh…Rihanna must have that BOMB pum pum! Either that, or she really done sprinkled some of that good ol’ island voodoo on these two fools.
