Madonna Admits to Dating Tupac Shakur
Have you ever heard the rumor that Madonna was getting pipped-down by Tupac? Yeah, me neither. But apparently, this grapevine juice started leaking back in 2007 when famed author Lucy O’Brien included a tidbit in her book Like an Icon, claiming the infamous pop star courted Pac in the ’90s and that she wanted to have his gangsta mulatto babies. (Ah ha! That explains Madonna’s obsession with adopting Black kids.)
The “Like a Virgin” icon never responded to the chitchat until a recent sit-down with the legendary potty-mouthed-poodle-head Howard Stern. While discussing her uncomfortable-looking interview on The Late Show with David Letterman in 1994, the raunchy pop queen revealed:
“I was mad at [David Letterman] when I said the F-word a lot,” she said. “I was in a weird mood that day. I was dating Tupac Shakur at the time and the thing is he got me all riled up about life in general…so when I went on the show I was feeling very gangster.”
But why is M-deezy dropping this bomb now? My guess is that it has little, teenie, weenie something to do with her new gangsta-boo rap-ish album Rebel Heart. (Just a little.) The LP includes collabos with Nas, Chance the Rapper and a song with Nicki Minaj called “Bitch, I’m Madonna.” (Thug life.) She’s even rapping on a few tracks. #2PacTaughtHer
Pharrell Facing Second Marvin Gaye Lawsuit?
Earlier this week, I told you that Marvin Gaye’s Estate won their hefty copyright infringement case against Pharrell and Robin Thicke involving the pair’s alleged thievery of “Got to Give It Up” for their 2013 summer smash “Blurred Lines.” (Click here if you missed that.) Now it’s seems Skateboard P may be looking at another bank blow from the soul king’s estate.
During an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, Marvin Gaye’s family commented on the striking similarity of P’s “Happy” to Gaye’s “Ain’t That Peculiar”
“I’m not going to lie. I do think they sound alike,” Marvin’s daughter, Nona Gaye, told ET’s Nischelle Turner.
Marvin’s ex-wife, Janis Gaye, added: “I heard the mash-ups—but I didn’t really need to hear them. I know ‘Ain’t That Peculiar’ and I’ve heard ‘Happy.’” (Uh oh.)
When asked if they were gearing up for a second round of “pickpocket-Pharrell,” Nona said, “We’re not in that space.” Janis added, “We’re just in the moment today and we’re satisfied.” (At least for now.)
But does “Happy” and “Ain’t That Peculiar” really sound that much alike? Listen to the mashup and decide for yourself.
