Following nearly a half year of family drama, hopes, prayers and legal woes, Bobbi Kristina tragically passed away Sunday (July 26) after being hospitalized in a medically induced coma for over five months, ABC News reports.
“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away Sunday, July, 26 2015, surrounded by her family. She is finally at peace in the arms of God,” a statement from the Houston family said. “We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”
Bobbi Kristina was 22-years-old.
The famed daughter of Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, Bobbi was found unconscious in a bathtub at her suburban Atlanta home by a friend and her longtime partner Nick Gordon on Jan. 31. She was taken to a local hospital, but later transferred to the Neurology Intensive Care Unit of Emory University Hospital, and eventually placed in hospice care on June 24, where her co-guardians, Bobby and Pat Houston, made the decision to take her off life support and withdraw all meds.
Bobbi’s death comes just three-and-a-half years after the passing of her late mother Whitney Houston, who died in circumstances eerily similar to that of Bobbi’s, as she who was found dead in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on February 11, 2012.
The case surrounding Bobbi Kristina’s death is being handled as a criminal investigation due to unexplained markings on her face and body, reports TMZ. Her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, was interrogated about the details surrounding her death, which led to his now-infamous interview on Dr. Phil, and intervention, and a stint in rehab.
Following the news of the aspiring actress’ death, celebrities lit up their Twitter timelines with reactions, condolences and prayers for her family.
Hopefully the Brown and Houston families can find some solace knowing that she’s now at peace. #RIPBobbiKristina
