While Sanaa Lathan‘s new movie The Perfect Guy is killing the box office, the veteran actress is out here showing off her undercover singing skills. Well…ahem.
With the help of the oh so melodic Dej Loaf, Sanaa released her first-ever single “Emotional” addressing her distaste for overly-sensitive men. So why is the 43-year-old actress stepping in the studio all-of-a-sudden? Word is the idea blossomed out of a convo producer Detail had with Ms. Lathan. After watching the trailer for the movie, he deemed Michael Ealy‘s crazy ass character an “emotional n—a.” Of course, Sanaa concurred.

Life can be amazing when you step outside your comfort zone sometimes and say yes. Who woulda thought I'd have a single out. It tickles me pink Hahahaha! 😊Shoutout to @detailgo & @frenchmontana for the encouragement. Shoutout to brilliant @misschloeflower on piano & the amazing @dejloaf. I'm thinking of this as character I'm playing singing this song. She's my character Leah's (in #ThePerfectGuy) ALTER EGO and her name is #BrownSugar.. 😼 Link in bio. Enjoy.
Welp, the cut is officially a part of the film’s soundtrack, so I guess…check it out.
Sigh. The song definitely sounds similar to the rest of the
garbage music that’s out here today, but personally I say: Sanaa please stick to acting. (And am I the only one tired of the word “nigga” getting a star role on every record? Lawwd help us all!)
