On Friday (June 3), boxing legend and civil rights leader Muhammad Ali died of septic shock at an Arizona hospital, reports NBC News.
Prior to his death, Ali had spent five days at the hospital where he was admitted for respiratory problems that gradually worsened. According to a family spokesperson, he transitioned with his wife and children by his side. The world-renowned champ was 74-years-old.
Ali’s family revealed plans for an intimate burial on Friday where he will be laid to rest in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. The day-long service will include a parade through the city’s streets where Ali grew and picked up his knack for boxing.
Former President Bill Clinton and comedian Bill Crystal are among the list of celebs scheduled to perform eulogies, while only close family will be present for the beloved luminary’s burial at a local cemetery.
His daughter, Hana Ali, took to Twitter to recall her father’s last moments.
Even on his death bed, Ali went out like a true champ: still FIGHTING! Peace and prayers to the Ali family and RIP to the G.O.A.T.!
