Houston rappers came together Tuesday (July 18) to make a powerful statement: #blackdollarsmatter.

According to HipHopDXartists like Slim Thug, Willie D, Paul Wall and Trae The Truth opened new accounts at Unity National Bank, the only Black-owned financial house in the state of Texas.

The rappers also addressed the rising issue of gun violence with city officials and united to “create an atmosphere of respect instead of discontent with our law enforcement,” reported Geto Boys rapper Willie D.

The action was lauded by fellow Southern emcees like T.I. and Killer Mike, who both posted a picture of the meet-up on their Instagram pages.

Killer Mike captioned the photo:

“These are my friends and fellow rappers being the change that those who down talk them accuse them of not being. I salute the Rappers in H Town. Thanks for the call Paul Wall. Salutes Johnny Dang for being an ally to the community that u make money with. Special salutes to Brother Deric (Salaam Black man) & Willie D for using the moment to lead our dollars where there shud be. #BankBlackBankSmallBankLocal salutes H Town.
